Rotary Mayors of the Week Program

The Rotary Club of Belleville sponsors a Mayors of the Week Program each fall with cooperation and assistance from the City of Belleville.

Each area high school is encouraged to select a deserving student and forward their name to our club. It's up to the school as to how they chose the student but they must have some sort of competition where the winner gets to be a Mayor of the Week. It is the only program that brings together top students from each school who have a demonstrated interest in the community at large, and local government in particular.

Following their week with City staff and elected officials, where they spend time with each department including at least one council meeting, they return to join forces for a presentation at a Rotary Club meeting to discuss their experience. This meeting is always one of our most interesting meetings where the Mayors of the Week consistently tell us of the broad exposure they experienced and their gratitude for the program.

Each Mayor of the week is presented with a Rotary Club certificate to recognize and thank them for their participation.

Belleville Rotary Club has sponsored this program for many years. Members are proud to contribute to the development of students destined to be tomorrow's community and business leaders.
