President Darrell Smith was pleased to present a number of perfect attendance awards to Rotarians, 24 altogether as well as Paul Harris Fellow Certificates and special recognition of achievements by others.  A Paul Harris Fellow is given to Rotarians in the Club on their 10th anniversary as a Rotarian.  In addition, Rotarians can earn Paul Harris Fellow recognition through financial contributions to the Rotary Foundation earning them Paul Harris Plus awards, the highest of which is as a major donor to the Foundation.
There were two Paul Harris Fellow awards presented posthumously to the Late Joy Lynch and the Late Richard Tie for their contributions to Rotary.  Kristin Crowe presented very thoughtfully on the contributions specifically made by Joy Lynch, spouse of Rotarian Vince Lynch.  Service Above Self is described as having compassion, humility, kindness, grace and love or as noted by Kristin, describes our much loved Joy Lynch.  She instigated, along with Vince, the Arts and Crafts show at the annual Belleville Waterfront Festival.  They attended many arts and craft shows, looking for ideas and recruiting potential vendors that would draw a crowd here in Belleville  And that they did!  Joy also gave of her time and technical expertise to automating some of the work done by the Rotary Club, particularly that of the Roster that was published every year under the careful scrutiny of Vince himself.  Joy also invested a significant amount of time shopping and wrapping gifts for the Annual Children's Christmas party, a labour of love.  To quote inspirational author, Shannon L. Alder "when you are joyful, when you say yes to life and have fun and project positivity all around you, you become a sun in the centre of every constellation and people want to be near you".  Joy Lynch was our sun.  (pictured from L to R Darrell Smith, Kristin Crowe, Vince Lynch and DG Iosif Ciosa)

Richard Tie Ten Quee or as we knew him, Richard Tie joined Rotary in 1984 and sadly passed away in January of this year after several years of ill health.  We are so pleased to have his wife Joanne with us this evening to recognize Richard’s contribution to the Rotary Club of Belleville over the 37 years he was a member, a very proud Rotarian who led our lunch singing with gusto, sometimes the only voice we could hear, but he was very committed to the sing-along and encouraged everyone to join in.  You couldn’t help but smile.  Richard gave very generously to Happy Bucks when he proudly shared the accomplishments of his six grandchildren at sports or school competitions.  Richard was the father of Angela and Dan and dear grandfather of Julia, Lucia, Theo, Sammy, Joaquin and Josefina. Richard supported and was an active member of the Quinte Rotary Music Festival Committee and worked tirelessly over the years.  He readily stepped up to organize volunteers to help set up the stage for bands at The Salvation Army Church for several years, and then ensured that the furniture was restored to its normal place after we were finished with the set up.  In more recent years, he persuaded the Optometrists in the area to jointly provide sponsorship of the music festival, which continued for many years, and even this year after his passing.  In honour of the many years as a member of the Rotary Club of Belleville, along with his many hours of dedication to the Club, the Rotary Club of Belleville presented in memoriam, a Paul Harris Fellow + 2 to Richard's spouse, Joanne.
